Con il rilascio della serie Phenom II abbiamo visto in giro molte schede basate sul chipset 790G.La scheda che andremo a recensire è una Sapphire PC-AM2RS790GX Pure 790GX , una delle ultime scheda madri basata su chipset AMD 790GX. Questo chipset è stato progettato per supportare sia l'ultima II AMD Phenom AM2 + e AM3 processori con supporto DDR2 fino a 1066MHz. Sapphire assume caratteristiche di base del chipset e aggiunge a ciò che si sente sono i giocatori e gli appassionati alla ricerca di madre in un contesto concorrenziale.
L'I/O del pannello della Sapphire 790GX offre ampi collegamenti!. A partire dalla parte superiore troviamo le le due porte PS/2 per tastiera e mouse, una porta HDMI, una porta DVI e la porta VGA, quattro porte USB 2.0, una porta Ethernet, è una entrata a 8 canali audio HD utilizzando il codec Realtek ALC888.
Passando alla slot di espansione, si possono notare i due slot PCI-Express.Questa motherboard supporta multi-GPU CrossFire e CrossFireX utilizzando schede grafiche di fascia media o una scheda discreta più quella integrata. Quando si montano 2 schede in modalità crossfire i 2 slot PCI Express viaggeranno entrambi a x8.Tuttavia,se non vogliamo utilizzare la modalita CF lo stot PCI Express è 2.0, che ha una larghezza di banda molto maggiore rispetto alla precedente generazione.
